HireArt Employee Spotlight Featuring Samra Pehlic

HireArt Employee Spotlight Featuring Samra Pehlic

With Vanesa Anaya-Aldana, Visual Designer, HireArt

The operations team at HireArt drives thoughtful policy development and delivers a consistent and joyous employment experience for contractors. I sat down with Samra Pehlic, a Worker Experience Specialist, to learn more about the work she does to make contractors and clients feel supported.

What do you do as a Worker Experience Specialist at HireArt?

As a Worker Experience Specialist, my main goal is to make a contractor’s employment as smooth and effortless as possible, for both the contractor and client. I aim for clear and consistent communication throughout onboarding, training, and the length of their tenure with HireArt. My goal is to address questions before they can arise, and always follow up with folks as necessary. This in turn nurtures an open-door, community feel that enables contractors to feel well-supported and excited about their work.

Tell me a little about your experiences before joining HireArt and how it has prepared you for your current role here.

My experience working with various contractors in the past had me well-equipped for the wide range of clients HireArt caters to. This, combined with experience in healthcare and a deep desire to help and mentor others, guided me with a passion and commitment to helping others and resolving any hiccups I can along the road.

That’s really awesome. So, you currently provide on-site HR support, what are some key benefits you recognize from your on-site presence?

Having an HR representative on site provides employees with feelings of inclusion and support. This in turn boosts employee morale and, subsequently, employee readiness and productivity.

Additional benefits to having an HR representative on-site include:

  • Faster response times
  • One-on-one conversations and guidance
  • On-site manager and employee training
  • Recognition of administrative or workflow inefficiencies
  • Better management of legal compliance concerns

In your opinion, what are the most critical aspects of employee engagement, and how do you address them?

The most critical aspects of employee engagement include clear communication throughout the entirety of a worker’s employment to ensure workers feel well-supported and autonomous in the work they’re doing. Some examples include smooth, worry-free onboarding, regular check-in calls, and almost around-the-clock mentoring as needed. I personalize these examples using core values of showing compassion, consistency, and urgency around all requests.

When contractors are shown compassion, they feel valued within their role in the company.

When there’s consistent communication and announcements, contractors feel well-informed and equipped to handle their responsibilities. And when each inquiry is treated as urgent, contractors can build trust with their HR team and company.

Based on your direct experience, what is something clients and contractors love about HireArt?

Clients and contractors have stated that HireArt is essential in keeping everything organized and are great at responding quickly to inquiries. In my personal experience, what sets HireArt apart from most (aside from our leading NPS score, of course), is the kindness and respect each individual is treated with, regardless of how hectic the day may become. We maintain an attitude of giving each person grace and never assuming the worst. By allowing “space and grace” we allow all to work autonomously with the knowledge that any support that might be needed will not only be easy to reach, but a conversation they’ll enjoy and gain knowledge from.

🎤 drop! Ok, now some fun ones…what's your go-to snack?

Goldfish - but they have to be flavor-blasted. And an honorable mention for peanut M&Ms & chewy Sweetarts.

Flavor-blasted is the only accepted flavor! Describe your ideal weekend, only using emojis.

Outside of work, how do you typically spend your time?

Outside of creating a great worker experience, on the weekends I’m a fierce indoor and sand volleyball competitor. I also spend lots of time with Pierre, my Chug (Chihuahua-Pug) at the park or on hiking trails - allowing him to continuously bark at absolutely anything that moves. Another honorable mention for any comedy shows that come to town!

All I hear now is that you have been gatekeeping photos of Pierre from our Slack's pet channel 🥺 Let’s give the people what they want! Samra, jokes aside, thank you for sharing your expertise. I wanted to highlight some recent comments we received via NPS.

“HireArt is much more user-friendly than other EORs that we've worked with. Samra [has] been absolutely amazing to work with.”
